Full text available for free download at HathiTrust. See link below. Grace Belle Wood Clark, daughter of Samuel Godfrey and Emeline Tracy Wood, was born in West Gouldsboro, Maine on May 8, 1873. Her parents operated the Wayside Inn. After graduating from Eastern Maine Conference Seminary in Bucksport in 1892, Grace became a school teacher. She married Jerome Borden Clark, a schoolteacher from Steuben, on November 20, 1901. Grace was a charter member of the Daughters of Liberty, serving as its secretary. She was a librarian at the West Gouldsboro Library from 1918 until 1925. Grace died on July 6, 1941 and is buried with her parents in Lakeview Cemetery in West Gouldsboro. [show more]

Lutee M. Guptill, was born in Gouldsboro, Maine, January 28, 1873. She and brother Marcus, both single, lived on their family’s farm all their lives, first with their parents, then with each other until their own deaths. Her daily journal covers five of her later years, from January 1939 - October 1943, with details of her daily life on the farm, the chores, the weather, the family gatherings, their comings and goings. She marks birthdays and death days, including the death of Marcus on January 1, 1943. Lutee died September 12, 1949 at the age of 76 and is buried in West Bay Cemetery in Gouldsboro. [show more]
